At Gabba, Ind vs. Aus 3rd test day 3 was a stunning rollercoaster! Rain delays and a stunning Indian batting collapse made for thrilling cricket. India’s innings proceeded from shaky to downright perilous, finishing the day on 51 for 4, still behind Australia by 394 runs. KL Rahul is presently holding down the fort with 33 runs, but the pressure is intense.

Australian Dominance

Australia started the third day in a distant fashion. They finished on 405-7 on the second day. Travis Head scored a brilliant 152. He was not alone, Steve Smith scored a brilliant century of his own, bowling out Australia for 445 in their first innings.

Led by the ever-dangerous Jasprit Bumrah, India’s bowlers tried to stem the run-flow, but the Aussies had already built up a mountain of runs. Bumrah was the standout, taking 6-76 and taking key wickets, including Head and Smith, at crucial moments.

Australia continued to show their bowling prowess and their batting. Along with Mitchell Starc, Hazlewood and captain Pat Connins quickly broke the backbone of the Indian batting. Their bowling put India firmly behind them by the end of the third day.

Indian Batting Collapse

In response to Australia’s daunting total, India’s batting lineup faltered dramatically. The innings began poorly with Yashasvi Jaiswal dismissed for just 4 runs by Starc. Following him, Shubman Gill fell for a mere single run, leaving India struggling at 22 for 2. The pressure mounted when Virat Kohli was dismissed cheaply for just 3 runs after chasing a wide delivery from Josh Hazlewood, leading to an early lunch with India at 22 for 3.

After the break, Rishabh Pant’s wicket fell shortly thereafter, caught behind off Pat Cummins’ bowling for just 9 runs. India shaking at 51 for 4 at the end of the third day. The early dismissal of key players highlighted India’s ongoing issues with their top order throughout this series; they have consistently failed to build partnerships or withstand pressure against Australia’s formidable bowling attack.

Rain Interruptions

Rain delays that disrupted the flow of play marred the day. After an initially promising start to the day’s play, conditions deteriorated as rain forced umpires to call for covers several times. This not only affected the rhythm of the game but also added to the frustrations of Indian fans and players alike as they watched their team struggle under adverse conditions.

Looking Ahead

As Day 3 closed with India at 51 for 4, the squad faced a difficult task in this Test match. With only two days left to chase down a massive target set by Australia, they must recover swiftly and find a method to consolidate their innings. KL Rahul’s unblemished record provides a ray of optimism; but, he will require significant help from his teammates if India is to escape loss in this crucial encounter.

When play restarts, Australia’s bowlers will be looking to exploit any flaws in India’s batting order. If they can remove Rahul and consolidate their early success, they might win the match easily and take a commanding lead in the series.

Last Words

Ind vs. Aus, Day 3 of this Test has strengthened Australia’s dominance while raising serious questions about India’s batting resilience under pressure. The coming days will be crucial not only for this match but also for both teams’ aspirations in the World Test Championship standings as they vie for crucial points in this high-stakes series.
