Agar returns home for the birth of his child and will miss the entire series
Ashton Agar, Australia’s spinner, will miss the forthcoming three-match One-Day International series against Team India. Before the World Cup begins next month, the five-time ODI world champions will play India in a brief ODI series.
The series will allow both sides to fine-tune their preparations for the World Cup, which will begin on October 5. Australia, on the other hand, will be without many important players for the series opener, and Ashton Agar will be out for the entire series.
A left-arm spinner is part of the Australian World Cup team. Before the World Cup, he could not play in Indian conditions since he had to return home for the birth of his kid. He is anticipated to rejoin the Australian team before the practice matches.
Ashton Agar’s All-Around Skills Displayed in South Africa
Even though Ashton Agar has only played 22 ODIs thus far, he made his 50-over debut in 2015. He has so far taken 6 wickets in 6 One Day Internationals in India.
A superb cameo with the bat earlier this month during the first ODI against South Africa allowed Ashton Agar to display his all-around skills.
He helped Australia chase down 223 after being reduced to 113 for 7 by scoring an unbeaten 48 and sharing an unbroken 112-run partnership with Marnus Labuschagne.
Australia to miss key players for opening ODI
For Australia, there will be more players absent for the opening ODI in addition to Ashton Agar. Mitchell Starc and Glenn Maxwell, among others, will also miss the game, according to skipper Pat Cummins, who revealed this to the media before the series opener.
For the opening ODI, India won’t be fully healthy either. India has rested Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and Kuldeep Yadav for the first two ODIs following their victory in the Asia Cup. Rahul will captain the team in Rohit’s absence.
In the meantime, Mohali will host the first game of the three-match ODI series on September 22. For the second and third ODIs, respectively, the locations will be Indore and Rajkot.
