ACC Men’s U-19 Asia Cup Cricket Competition: All Set for India vs Pakistan Matches!

On Sunday, December 10, in Dubai, the most awaited match, India vs Pakistan, will be played in the ACC Men’s U-19 Asia Cup cricket competition.

Before that, the ACC Men’s U-19 Asia Cup cricket competition will begin with a match between India and Afghanistan on Friday, December 8, in Dubai.

On the first day of the competition, the other match will feature Pakistan against Nepal.
The Emirates Cricket Board is the tournament host, and eight teams will fight for the championship in the 50-over division.

ICC has formed both groups of four teams from the teams. Group A comprises Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, and Nepal.

Pool B comprises the hosts UAE, Japan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. The two teams who place highest in each of the two groups advance to the semi-finals, which take place on December 15.

On December 17, the final competition will occur at Dubai International Stadium. The ICC Academy Ovals 1 and 2 will host all group-stage matches and the semi-finals.

Uday Saharan to Lead India at the U-19 Asia Cup in 2023

Many renowned Indian cricket players participated in this competition before gaining international fame.

Yuvraj Singh, Irfan Pathan, Suresh Raina, Sanju Samson, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and several other players have made their debuts in the world while competing in the U19 Asia Cup.

Having won the championship a record eight times, Team India is both the current champion and the most successful team ever. In the next edition, they want to maintain their domination and add another nine championships to their collection.

The Indian U19 side, led by Uday Saharan, gears up to take on Afghanistan U19 in their opening game of the U19 Asia Cup.

Uday Saharan, a reserve player in India’s Under-19 squad, which clinched the 2022 World Cup under Yash Dhull’s captaincy, will now captain the young Men in Blue in the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup 2023 in the UAE.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selected Saharan to lead a 15-member squad, accompanied by three traveling standby players and four additional reserves.

Saharan, hailing from Punjab, assumes the leadership role, with Saumy Kumar Pandey from Maharashtra serving as his deputy. Aravelly Avanish Rao and Innesh Mahajan will take charge of the squad’s wicket-keeping duties.

Pakistan U19 Team Dominates Recent Series Under Saad Baig’s Leadership

Saad Baig leads the 15-member Pakistan U19 team. He led the Pakistan U19 team to a dominant 4-1 victory over Sri Lanka U19 in a recent five-match 50-over series at home.

Additionally, they triumphed over Bangladesh U19 during Bangladesh’s visit in April/May 2023. Pakistan U19 engaged in a four-day match against Bangladesh U19 and Sri Lanka U19 in both home and away series.

Shamyl Hussain, Shahzaib Khan, and Arafat Minhas are the only batters from Pakistan’s squad who scored over 300 runs. They made it in the 50-over series against Sri Lanka U19 and Bangladesh U19 in 2023.

In the same series, Arafat Minhas, Ali Asfand, and Ubaid Shah emerged as the leading wicket-takers for the Pakistan U-19 team. They secured 13, 10, and 9 wickets in the 50-over matches this year.

Spinners Arafat Minhas, Ali Asfand, and fast bowler Mohammad Zeeshan are the only experienced members of the squad.

Arafat Minhas played in three T20Is for Pakistan during the Asian Games Men’s Cricket Competition, making him the only capped player in the current squad. He boasts additional experience with 10 List-A appearances. Arafat has also played 10 List- A games.

Asfand, a left-arm spinner, played two matches for Faisalabad in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2023-24. He has participated in 11 List A and 10 T20 games. Mohammad Zeeshan, the fast bowler, has one List-A game to his credit.
