Illinois vs. Nebraska Milestone Madness: Nebraska’s 400th Consecutive Sellout Ends in Defeat
In the Illinois vs. Nebraska match on Friday, Nebraska football faced its first-season defeat in a tough overtime battle. The No. 22 stopped No. 24 Illinois at a 31-24 loss on Friday night.

Raiola scored 13 yards on third down, offering Nebraska some hope. However, the effort at a comeback was unsuccessful as Raiola was fired once more, giving Illinois the win.
Playoff Dreams of Nebraska Derailed by Illinois Upset
Both teams were looking to make an impression early in the season. Therefore, the Illinois vs. Nebraska game was vital for them both. With the victory, Illinois raised their record to 4-0 and maintained their stellar start to the year.
Nebraska, on the other hand, fell to 3-1, a disappointing outcome for a squad that had great expectations for a successful season. The defeat also extended Nebraska’s disappointing losing streak in ranked vs ranked games, a pattern the battalion has been keen to break.
The game between Nebraska and Illinois was fiercely contested, with both defenses coming through at key times. Sadly, Illinois’ defense turned out to be the deciding factor in overtime for the Huskers. The Illini took advantage of Nebraska’s inability to establish a rhythm on offense in the extra session to seal the victory.
To get ready for their upcoming mission, Nebraska will now need to regroup. In an attempt to recover from this painful setback, the squad travels to Purdue on Saturday. There’s little question that the Illinois vs. Nebraska game to get back on track and have a great season will motivate the Huskers.
