Wembanyama Sets NBA Record
Victor Wembanyama catches the limelight on Wednesday night even if his start to the second season of the NBA has been somewhat underwhelming.
The 20-year-old San Antonio Spurs star dropped 50 points to lead his team to a 139-130 win over the Washington Wizards, a career-high for the youngster. After scoring his first 26 minutes of a game, he reached 50 points, the fastest on record in NBA history.
He closed the night at 18 of 29, shooting the ball from the field and 8 of 16 from deep. He’s now the first center in league history with three games in a row and at least five made threes. Fans got excited for the exciting second-year player following the big night from Wemanyama.
On the heels of 19.7 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.9 blocks, and 1.4 steals per game performance through his first 13 NBA games, Wembanyama led into Wednesday’s matchup. Those are solid numbers, but hopefully, they’re not the type of play we expected from him in Year 2.
After one of his best performances, Wembanyama will hope to build on his big scoring night and get even better. Wednesday’s 50 points were a good indication that his offense can dominate, and the future still looks very bright for him.
