Introduction:
The rules of Teqball are as specific as other sports. Teqball combines football and table tennis rules. It was invented by Gábor Borsány, György Gattyán, and Viktor Huszár.
This game takes place on a curvy table known as the Teq Table. In Teqball, two players compete in a singles match, while four players compete in a doubles match.
FITEQ is the governing body of this sport. You can find information about the Teqball rules, the types of tables, measurements, and more.
Rules Of Teqball

FITEQ has some Teqball rules that we should know about:
- A size five ball is the official and recommended ball for Teqball.
- It is a best-of-three formats in Teqball.
- Two players can play both singles and doubles games of Teqball.
- It takes 12 points for a player/team to win a set.
- After each four-point period, the player/team changes to service.
- Each player/team has two chances to complete a successful service.
- It is prohibited to touch the ball twice with the same body part.
- Players/teams may touch the ball a maximum of three times with any body part, except for their hands and arms.
- A player cannot connect to the table or his opponent while playing.
- Edgeballs require a repeat rally.
In the case of para Teqball, we can also see two versions of para Teqball rules.
- Para Teqball Sports Class 1 (PTBSC 1)
- Para Teqball Sports Class 2 (PTBSC 2)
PTBSC 1 Rules
- During the game, players can use assistive equipment, such as crutches.
- While serving, players can use supporting apparatus, but ball contact should not be intentional during a rally.
- During the service, the last touch of the ball must be with a body part.
- Every purposeful and incidental touch with a body part counts as one of a maximum of three connections.
- The same body part can touch the ball several times in a row.
- A player can return the ball with the same body component.
- Once the player has received the ball, the ball may bounce on the ground once. There must be at least one touch before the ball reaches the ground.
PTBSC 2 Rules
- Para athletes with prostheses for either one or both legs compete in PTBSC 2.
- A player can touch the ball with the same body part twice consecutively, but not three times at once.
- A player may not return the ball with the same body part successively.
- It is common to touch the ball with a prosthesis once every three touches and return the ball with it.
Inclusive Play
In the game of inclusive doubles, there are four teams of two players each. There must be one PTBSC 1/ PTBSC 2 para Teqball player in each pair, as well as one Teqball player in each group.
The following are the rules of the PTBSC 1 inclusive game:
- If the para teqball player is serving, the server must ensure the ball starts moving upwards as the player receives it.
- A para teqball player may receive four touches.
- Para teqball players can bounce the ball a maximum of one time on the ground as long as they touch it again as soon as possible.
- It is okay to make repeated returns.
The following are the rules of the PTBSC 2 inclusive game:
- The para Teqball player can touch the ball with the same body part on both sides.
- It is okay to make repeated returns.
Teqball Table
Now let’s come to the discussion about table tables. The International Teqball Federation sets high requirements for the quality and longevity of its tables, and these all do.
A Teq ONE table, a Teq SMART table, or a Teq LITE table are all available for conducting games and training sessions. Also, the Teq X tablet has been newly added.
Teq ONE table
The construction and rules of Teq ONE tables ensure that luck and chance cannot interfere with the game, allowing players to rely only on their abilities and talents.
All major FITEQ events, including the World Championships, use this model. Over two years of testing and research led to the final shape of the Teq ONE table that is unique and sophisticated.
The net is solid, so the ball bounces back off it, reducing the amount of time it takes to play a game. The Teqball Teq table has a metal frame and a composite playing surface.
The net on the Teqball table is composed of a single piece of durable clear plastic. It maximizes visibility for players and allows for an unobstructed view of the ball.
In addition to its rounded edges for a safe playing surface, Teq ONE tables are weather and UV resistant, making them suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Teqball tables are ideal for usage in a variety of sports.
Teq SMART table
The Teq SMART table is a foldable variant of the Teq ONE table. The Challenger Cup makes use of it. However, it is not used in any other officially sanctioned FITEQ event.
In addition to saving space, folding the table’s sides up helps keep it in good shape. Upon folding up one side of the Teq SMART table, the table can also serve as a rebound wall against which to play and practice.
A substantial net and the ability to bounce back from it means continuous play is no longer a ridiculous notion.
Teqball is the current fad in sports tables – ideal for sports and leisure clubs, schools, universities, residential gardens, and other regions.
TEQ LITE
The Teq LITE Table comes with a fiberglass-reinforced polyester surface that is waterproof and UV-resistant. In this Teqball Teq table can be played both indoors and outdoors.
It has four large wheels with foldability support. It is quick to open and close and has a safety lock on the bottom side of the tabletop.
When folded up, the Teqball table occupies less storage space when it is stored. It consumes lite weight compared to others.
The famous Brazilian footballer, Ronaldinho, revealed the table at the 2019 Teqball World Championships.
TEQ X
The Teq X Teqball Table is the newest addition to the Teqball line, and its lightweight structure makes it an inexpensive option to try out this exciting new sport.
The newly added table adheres to the same formula as the original Teq ONE table, providing the characteristic shape and a permanent structure at a lower cost.
It is made of steel and has an anti-corrosive coating on the legs. The tabletop is fiberglass reinforced polyester with a matte finish and UV ray protection.
Teqball Table Measurement
The table is 3 meters (9 ft 10 inches) in length and 1.7 meters (5 ft 7 inches) in width. Between the ground and the top of the net, there will be a 0.9-meter height difference.
We observed that the center of the table, which is 0.76 meters high and holds the net, was the highest spot.
Net Measurement
It is necessary to utilize a net since the Teqball table has a width of 1.7 meters. Regulations require that nets be placed 0.14 meters above the playing field. The typical net thickness for a ball is 0.02 meters.
World Championships Of Teqball
FITEQ organizes the Teqball World Championships every year. In the Teqball World Championships, men and women play in Singles and Double competitions.
Hungary and Romania were victorious at the first Teqball World Championships in Budapest in July 2017. Ádám Blázsovics won the singles category, defeating Máté Szolga in an all-Hungarian final.
The retired footballers William Gallas from France and Nwankwo Kanu from Nigeria participated in a gala indoor football game on the final evening.
In 2018
In October 2018, the Teqball World Championships held their second edition in the French city of Reims.
Hungary was defeated in both finals, with Ádám Blázsovics and Csaba Bányik falling to Marojevic and Mitro, and Árpád Sipos succumbing to Szécsi.
Brazil lost to Romania in the bronze medal match. Robert Pires, a famous ex-footballer, attended this event. Former Portuguese footballer Simão Sabrosa and French freestyler Séan Garnier were also present.
In 2019
Budapest hosted the Teqball World Championships 2019 in December. The Hungarian won both gold medals in the singles and in the doubles with Csaba Banyik.
Maor Ankona of Israel competed in the mixed doubles for the first time and was one of 160 athletes from 58 countries competing in the global tournament.
A 50-year-old Italian doubles player, Indrit Bejtaga, was the oldest athlete in the championships. Since the first tournament in 2017, the number of participants has increased by 150%.
Ten new nations were added to the draw this year, including first-timers Djibouti, Argentina, Norway, Ivory Coast, and the Cook Islands.
In 2020
Teqball World Championships 2020 will be postponed by the FITEQ due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2021
Polish city Gliwice hosted the 2021 Teqball World Championships. The flagship event returned to Gliwice Arena for the first time since the Coronavirus pandemic started.
Hungarians Ádám Blázsovics defended his men’s title, and Anna Izsák won the women’s event, giving the nation two titles in singles. Bogdan Marojevic and Nikola Mitro won the men’s doubles from Serbia.
Hungary continued its strong performance with mixed doubles success with Csaba Bányik and Zsanett Janicsek.
