Real Madrid’s Comeback After the Break Didn’t Go Smoothly
Real Madrid’s comeback after the break didn’t go smoothly. Kepa made a mistake, and Ander Barrenetxea had the opportunity and space to take advantage of it and give the visitor a 1-0 lead.
Take Kubo’s left-footed curling shot nearly made it 2-0 for La Real in the first few minutes of the game for Madrid, but Oyarzabal’s tiny involvement in the 10th minute resulted in the goal being disallowed for offside.
At the Bernabeu, the game got off to an exciting start, but not for Real Madrid. Madrid’s press was easily through by Real Sociedad’s plan, making it difficult for the home team to get close to Sociedad’s box.
Real Madrid Miss Chances in First Half
In the 16th minute, Carvajal made a strong run and cut back the ball to find Joselu in front of an almost open goal. This gave Madrid their first serious chance. Joselu, though, lacked quality in his finishing, and the ball scooped over and struck the post.
When the ball rebounded, Rodrygo had a second chance, but his volleyed effort was too feeble. The drama of Madrid was given new vitality by these scenes.
Rodrygo and Joselu both had excellent opportunities, but Alex Remiro denied Madrid in both cases. Real Madrid had the majority of the ball and nearly scored as many goals as La Real.
Additionally, they had an identical amount of shots. Real Sociedad appeared to have been the superior team in the first half, though. The Madrid midfield was never assertive against the opposition.
Real Madrid come from behind to beat Real Sociedad
The second half began with Real Madrid’s fortunes changing. After the international break, Federico Valverde resumed his scoring streak with a spectacular first-time strike from beyond the area in the 47th minute to tie the game.
During the game, Real Madrid attempted 16 ball crosses, the majority of which were subpar. Fran Garcia did, however, eventually make a superb and accurate cross.
Joselu scored after he was set up well by him, giving the home team a 2-1 advantage. Immediately following this goal, Carlo Ancelotti replaced Joselu.
In place of Joselu and Tchouameni, Modric and Camavinga entered the contest. A standing ovation greeted Fran Garcia as he departed the field after contributing two spectacular assists.
To have any chance of winning the league, Real Madrid needed to win this game. La Real, a challenging squad, demonstrated their strength in the Bernabeu. Real Madrid won even though the game wasn’t always nice by scoring three significant points.
