Top 7 Best Young Indian Fast Bowlers List (2025)

Top 7 Young Indian fast bowlers list.

The next generation of young Indian fast bowlers is proving they’re ready for the big stage. As of now, Arshdeep Singh (99 wickets in 63 T20Is), Umran Malik (157 kph in IPL, one of the fastest bowlers), and Mohsin Khan (economy rates of 8.5 in IPL career) have already made headlines.

Move over, spin kings. India’s new batch of fast bowlers is here to prove the Men in Blue can dominate with pace too.

These new Indian bowlers don’t just rely on raw pace; they mix pace with control. Mayank Yadav clocked 156.7 kph in his debut Indian Premier League season with 7 wickets in 4 matches. The young fast bowlers in India are silencing critics; from domestic cricket to the Indian Premier League, they are everywhere.

Most cricket pundits ask, ‘Who after Bumrah?‘ and these young guns are proving they can fill those big shoes. Team India coach Gautam Gambhir has an eye on them for the World Cup 2027.

7. Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal

  • Full Name: Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal
  • Date of Birth: 02.12.1999
  • Place of Birth: Indore
  • Role: Bowler
  • Batting Style: Right-hand Bat
  • Bowling Style: Right-arm fast medium
One of the Young Indian fast bowlers Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal of Bengal.

We start with our dark horse pick, uncapped pace sensation Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal. The fast bowler has already become a breakout star at the Ranji Trophy 2024/25. And his two five-wicket hauls, including 6 for 46 against Haryana, give him the limelight.

The versatile Indian pacer can swing the ball both ways with pace. In first-class cricket, his fast bowling is crucial for Bengal. He has taken 29 wickets in 6 games. It makes him the second-highest wicket-taker for the team.

With his economical bowling, he impressed everyone in first-class cricket and local tournaments. Along with his bowling, his batting ability can serve as depth in the lower order.

Though no official IPL links have yet emerged, his 2024/25 Ranji performance would force IPL franchises to think about him, just like Arshdeep Singh before his IPL debut. However, he hasn’t been tested on the international stage; for that reason, we ranked him No. 7.

6. Akash Singh

  • Full Name: Akash Maharaj Singh
  • Date of Birth: 26.04. 2002
  • Place of Birth: Rajasthan
  • Role: Bowler
  • Batting Style: Right-hand Bat
  • Bowling Style: Left-arm fast medium
One of the young fast bowlers Akash Singh of Lucknow Super Giants.

The MRF Pace Foundation product first burst onto the scene in the 2020 U-19 World Cup. Once, his childhood Aravali Cricket Academy coach, Vivek Yadav, said about him on the selection of the U-19 World Cup, “I’m very pleased for him. However, I have not been surprised by Akash’s selection because he is a very hardworking kid.”

After that, his domestic career, along with the IPL performances as a journeyman, highlights his potential as an emerging talent.

His natural ability to swing the ball both ways troubles the batters. He can also produce a sharp bounce, similar to Mohsin Khan. In the Ranji Trophy 2024/25, his three wickets against Kerala were remarkable and left critics stunned.

Despite LSG’s crowded pace attack, the left-arm Indian pacer got only 3 games in IPL 2025. However, the 23-year-old pacer stood out with 4 wickets. He had a clutch fast bowling performance against the Punjab Kings, taking off Josh Inglis and Priyansh Arya for 30 runs.

His economy rate (7.50) demonstrated control beyond his years in a pressure situation, where his fellow teammates had economy rates of 10 or higher.

The left-arm Indian pacer continues to deliver in domestic cricket and has the raw potential to become the best bowler in India. He needs more game time and to polish his talent for the international stage to get a call-up. Ranked No.6 only because of limited chances, but his 140+ kph heat and ice-vein yorkers won’t keep him waiting long.

One of the new Indian bowlers Prince Yadav of Lucknow Super Giants.

A year ago, Prince Yadav wasn’t even on IPL scouts’ radars. The local tournament star is now one of the young Indian fast bowlers in the Indian circuit. Became the highest wicket-taker for Delhi with his 11 wickets in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, which helped him get teams for the Indian Premier League.

As a debutant, Prince bagged in-form Travis Head with a 130kph+ yorker and got his maiden IPL wicket. When Mayank Yadav’s injury left Lucknow Super Giants’ attack toothless, Prince stepped up and delivered.

His change of pace and hard length deliveries keep the batters guessing, especially in the middle order. Despite limited chances (3 wickets in 6 games), his 10 dot balls against the Rajasthan Royals showed glimpses of his death-overs potential in his IPL debut season.

Beyond the IPL, his uncapped white-ball cricket as a bowler will force selectors to consider him for an India A call-up. Right now, he is more skilled under Morne Morkel at LSG.

He has improved his fast bowling accuracy without sacrificing speed and learned how to handle pressure. From Delhi’s dusty grounds to match up against world-class players, Prince Yadav’s rise is a slap to every scout who overlooked him.

From a standout performance in a local tournament to the IPL stage, the Mumbai Indians are introducing Ashwini as a new Indian bowler in the IPL 2025. On his very first delivery of a debut match, the 23-year-old bagged veteran Ajinkya Rahane at deep backward point.

New Indian bowler Ashwini Kumar of Mumbai Indians.

He finished the match with a record-breaking four wickets in a haul, becoming the first Indian bowler to claim four wickets on his IPL debut. As a young Indian fast bowler, he’s showing his wicket-taking talent on big stages after winning the Player of the Match award.

In a short time in domestic cricket, Ashwini performed well for Punjab. He played in the Ranji Trophy, taking 3 wickets in 2 matches. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he took 3 wickets in 4 games. His best performance was 3/37 against Arunachal Pradesh. Also, in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he took 2 wickets in 4 games.

Following a successful IPL season, the young pace sensation aims to maintain this form for his international debut. His domestic record, particularly in T20 cricket, points to significant potential.

Mayank Yadav of Lucknow Super Giants.

Mayank Yadav, a standout player in the 2024 Indian Premier League, has made a meaningful impact on the Lucknow Super Giants’ fast bowling unit, taking 7 wickets in 4 games. He got the limelight in his debut season.

However, his injury significantly hampered LSG’s performance in the 2025 IPL season, resulting in him playing only two matches and taking two wickets. The Lucknow Super Giants’ coach, Langer, said on his injury, “Mayank, who everyone was very excited about last year, was doing quite well after recovering from a back injury, but he accidentally kicked his toe on the bed.

Before his injury, he was the only player in the IPL to win back-to-back Player of the Match awards against the Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

After Umran Malik, he also holds the record for being one of the fastest bowlers in the IPL, reaching a speed of 156.7 km/h against RCB, which surprised the cricket community.

His ability to take wickets, coupled with remarkable economy rates, made him stand out to the selectors. As a result, in October 2024, he made his T20 international debut, playing against Bangladesh.

Along with the IPL, in 2023, he took 34 wickets in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, with best figures of 4/47 against Karnataka for Delhi. But always, injury hits him like another youngster, Umran Malik.

One of the young Indian fast bowlers showed incredible control and speed in his bowling. He brought fresh energy to Indian cricket with raw potential. We know Mayank Yadav has the talent; now, India needs him fit.

2. Anshul Kamboj

  • Full Name: Anshul Kamboj

  • Place of Birth: Haryana
  • Role: Bowler
  • Batting Style: Right-hand Bat
  • Bowling Style: Right-arm fast medium
one of the Indian young fast bowlers Anshul Kamboj of Chennai Super Kings.

The 24-year-old, one of the best young Indian fast bowlers from Haryana, takes wickets at an alarming rate in domestic cricket and the IPL. After taking ten wickets in one innings against Kerala in the Ranji Trophy, he became the third person to do so.

The other two are Premangsu Chatterjee and Pradeep Sunderam. He has a first-class record of 74 wickets with an average of 22.66. In the Asia Cup 2024, he topped the wicket-taking charts for India A.

When Chennai Super Kings opened their checkbook for ₹3.4 crore, they weren’t buying pace. They were getting one of the best wicket-takers. Eight IPL wickets came quietly in 2025, each one tightening the noose for CSK’s dry IPL 2025 season.

After the season ended, Dhoni said about Kamboj at the match conference, “Kamboj is someone who doesn’t get swing but does get some seam movement. The ball hits you harder than the speed gun suggests. He has taken on the responsibility and can bowl good yorkers.

Having just destroyed England’s top-order batsman Duckett in his debut Test match last July, he delivered for the nation. India’s search for its next-gen seamer might be over, and he has the potential to deliver on big stages.

1. Harshit Rana

  • Full Name: Harshit Pradeep Rana
  • Date of Birth: 22.12. 2001
  • Place of Birth: New Delhi
  • Role: Bowler
  • Batting Style: Right-hand Bat
  • Bowling Style: Right-arm fast

Now, we have reached our destination. The best young Indian fast bowler right now is Harshit Rana. Few could debate that his form this season doesn’t make him deserving of that tag. Arguably, we select the best young fast bowler in India overall in the 2024/25 season.

One of the Young Indian fast bowlers Harshit Rana of Kolkata Knight Riders.

The 23-year-old pacer is breaking into Team India with raw talent in 2024. His 19 IPL wickets outshone all uncapped bowlers in IPL 2024 and helped KKR to lift the trophy. Gautam Gambhir trusts in his capabilities and gave him a chance to debut in all three international formats.

With 21 Ranji Trophy wickets in 5 games, Rana made his mark in the 2022-23 domestic cricket for Delhi. In white-ball cricket, he took 22 wickets in 14 Vijay Hazare matches and 28 in 25 Syed Mushtaq games.

His Test debut (3/48 vs. Australia) included a magic delivery to dismiss Travis Head. In the Champions Trophy, he claimed 4 wickets at an economy rate of 3.98, troubling Bangladesh and Pakistan.

A former cricketer, Manjrekar, thinks Rana can take Arshdeep Singh’s spot in the ODI team. It could happen after the India vs. England ODI series in 2025.

He said, “I really appreciate his spirit, and he possesses most of the right attributes. However, for now, Arshdeep Singh remains the senior bowler on the team. Over time, though, Harshit Rana could pose a challenge for Arshdeep, especially if Arshdeep is positioned as the second seamer in the side, with Hardik Pandya taking the third spot.

It shows that young Indian fast bowlers can lead the pace department post the Bumrah era.

Last Words

The days of waiting are over for India’s young Indian fast bowlers. From 2022, the Uttar Pradesh-born Mohsin Khan has entertained us with swing. They have done it in the IPL, in domestic cricket, and when called up for international duty.

Meanwhile, underrated cricketers like Anshul Kamboj and Harshit Rana are challenging bowlers like Punjab Kings’ Arshdeep Singh for the upcoming World Cups.

Anshul Kamboj, Mayank Yadav, and Harshit Rana are in a tug of war for selectors’ attention, while Prince Yadav and Ashwini Kumar need one strong season to join the mix. The competition resembles a high-stakes throwball, with every performance counting.
