There is a new speed demon in town!

Nepal’s cricket sensation Dipendra Singh Airee made waves on a remarkable Wednesday, September 27, achieving an astonishing feat. Airee hit fifty in just nine balls during Nepal’s match with Mongolia at the 2023 Asian Games. The game happened at Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field in Hangzhou and was quite the spectacle.

In comparison, the legendary Yuvraj Singh achieved his lightning-fast fifty in 12 balls during India’s T20 World Cup 2007 battle against England in Durban on September 19, 2007. The explosive Chris Gayle, who replicated the feat during a Big Bash League (BBL) match for the Melbourne Renegades, later equaled this record in 2016.

Dipendra Singh Airee’s Record-Breaking T20 Innings

Airee, a powerful right-handed hitter from Nepal, walked up to the plate at No. 5 in a historic T20 encounter. He stormed past the field, slamming an incredible eight sixes and collecting an undefeated 52 runs from just ten balls.

Airee’s unwavering excellence helped Nepal to a milestone total of 314 runs, with only three wickets lost. This astounding total is the greatest ever in a T20 encounter, cementing Nepal’s place in cricket history.

Fans throughout the world have expressed their admiration for Airee’s incredible feat. His name is now inscribed in the annals of cricket history with some of the game’s greats.

Nepal Sets Record Total in Asian Games Opener

Mongolia invited Nepal to bat first in the first match of the men’s cricket tournament at the Asian Games 2023, and the Nepali side, who recently played against Pakistan and India in the Asia Cup 2023, made the most of the occasion by setting a record total on the board.

Kushal Malla, their third hitter, was undefeated on 137 runs from 50 balls. He scored his century in just 34 balls, setting a global record for the quickest century in T20I history.

Malla and Paudel’s Partnership

Malla hit eight fours and 12 sixes during his time at the crease. He and skipper Rohit Paudel scored 193 runs for the third wicket. Paudel was again on fire against Mongolia, scoring 61 runs off 27 balls. During his inning, he hit six sixes and two fours.

Paudel was out on the first ball of the 19th over, and Airee stepped to the crease, facing 10 of the next 11 balls to achieve the quickest fifty in T20 cricket history. His record will always stand since no player can knock a fifty in less than nine balls, even if he hits six out of every nine.
