Jaiswal Spoils Bazball Party, Kumble Questions England’s Tactics

Jaiswal Spoils Bazball Party of Ben Stokes. His dream turned into a slow-burning nightmare on Day 1 of the 1st Test against India in Hyderabad.

Spin twins Ashwin and Jadeja strangled England’s batting, while youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal’s delightful strokeplay put India firmly in the driver’s seat.

Anil Kumble, the legendary Indian spinner, couldn’t resist questioning England’s tactics after Day 1’s dramatic turn of events.

First, the spin factor: England’s gamble with three spinners, hoping for a dustbowl, backfired spectacularly. Debutant Tom Hartley’s forgettable bowling (63 runs in 9 overs) added to the woes. India’s spin maestros revelled in the conditions, leaving England reeling at 246 all out.

Then came the historic twist: England, for the first time, fielded just one fast bowler–Mark Wood–in a test match. This unorthodox move, a stark contrast to Bazball’s aggressive spirit, left them short on pace and penetration.

Kumble rightly pointed out this curious decision, asking if England “missed a trick” by opting for a solitary speedster against a formidable Indian batting lineup.

Finally, Jaiswal’s brilliance ensured India ended Day 1 with a commanding lead. The young opener’s fluent knock punctured England’s hopes of a fightback, leaving them staring at a daunting task in the rest of the test.

With questions swirling around England’s tactics and India firmly in control, the Hyderabad Test has set the stage for a captivating battle. Did England falter in their Bazball approach?

Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure–Jaiswal and the Indian spinners have certainly spoiled the party for now. Buckle up, cricket fans, because this test promises to be a thriller!

Jaiswal Scorches, Kumble Questions Root: Day 1 Fireworks in Hyderabad

After the first day of play in the series opener in Hyderabad, legendary spinner Anil Kumble asked on Sports 18 why England had not included Joe Root as a bowler on the first day of play.

“I felt that Joe Root, who has a good movement and can turn the ball, was a trick that England missed. Additionally, we witnessed Ashwin bother the left-handers, namely Yashasvi Jaiswal. Thus, England most likely dropped a hint,” Kumble remarked.

England might have brought their aggressive Bazball approach to India, but young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal had other plans. He tore into the England bowling attack, smashing a fiery 76 off just 70 balls on Day 1 of the 1st Test in Hyderabad.

Jaiswal’s whirlwind knock helped India reach a commanding 119-1 at the end of 23 overs, trailing England’s first-innings total of 246 by just 127 runs.

He became only the third Indian batsman after Gautam Gambhir and KL Rahul to score above 70 on the opening day’s play after India batted second in a test match.

Jaiswal’s attacking display threw a spanner in England’s Bazball works, showing that India was more than ready to counterpunch.

His innings were a masterclass in shot selection and timing, peppered with boundaries all around the park. He sent a clear message to England: India won’t be intimidated by their attacking style.

The battle between India’s batting might and England’s Bazball philosophy has just begun, and Jaiswal has set the stage for a thrilling encounter.

With the rest of the Indian batting lineup still to come, England bowlers have their work cut out for them. Buckle up, cricket fans, this is one test match you won’t want to miss!

Spin Woes Haunt England as Kumble Calls for Confidence and Control

On the first day of the First Test, pacer Wood bowled two overs while spinners Hartley, Jack Leach, and Rehan Ahmed could only share a wicket.

I believe the length is the first. They just aren’t consistent at all when it comes to helping you out a little. With the Indian spinners, we witnessed that.

They bowled the wrong lengths because it was twisting as soon as they bowled a decent length. The first thing you need is confidence, and secondly, when you want to spin.

Leach is coming in after not playing for a while, and Hartley is playing his first game. But the spinners must be far more reliable if they are to make a comeback in this game.” Kumble added.
