Dodgers Defy the Odds, Steal World Series from Yankees
Los Angeles Dodgers Defeated New York Yankees: The World Series provided the Dodgers a lesson when they punished a string of defensive blunders by the New York Yankees, with Los Angeles rallying for a stunning 7-6 win over the Yankees Wednesday.
The Dodgers crowned two Major League Baseball championships on a night of spellbinding drama at Yankee Stadium, a pair of comebacks from 5-0 down in a 4-1 series win.
The Yankees, who had forced a game six in Los Angeles after striking back 11-4 in game four on Tuesday, had looked to record a series win and book them a route back with five runs up on the Reds after home runs from Judge, Chisholm, and Stanton.
Meanwhile, Yankees starter Gerrit Cole had a masterful four-inning performance on the mound, keeping the Dodgers’ potent offensive lineup scoreless.
A disastrous fifth inning by the Yankees, as the Dodgers piled on five unearned runs to tie the game at 5-5, but a batting Dodger onslaught got the magic working for them in the eighth inning.
In the sixth, Stanton scored Juan Soto with a sacrifice fly, but the Dodgers answered in the eighth with sac flies from Gavin Lux and Mookie Betts, tying it at 6, before pulling ahead at 7-6 on Betts’ blast.
The Dodgers then tied game three starter Walker Buehler to bag the final three outs of the ninth to win in a heartbreaker of an extra-inning finish.
