Shikha Pandey left out of India’s Bangladesh tour, despite good WPL performance
Beginning on July 9, the Indian women’s squad will play Bangladesh in three T20Is and three ODIs. The BCCI has made several substantial alterations to both squads.
Senior Indian cricketer Shikha Pandey is probably frustrated by that, despite her good performance in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) in March. They did not select her for the women’s side for the forthcoming white-ball series against Bangladesh. When she was re-called to the Indian squad for the Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa in February of this year, the Indian team management did not give a reason for her omission.
Shikha Pandey ‘frustrated and angry’ after being ignored for Bangladesh series
Pandey, who played for the Delhi Capitals, was the best Indian fast bowler in the WPL 2023. She was second in terms of wickets taken among Indian bowlers, after Mumbai Indians spinner Saika Ishaque. After her steady efforts for the side captained by Meg Lanning, Pandey was not selected for the team after claiming 10 wickets in 9 matches.
Pandey, the former India women’s coach WV Raman, ignoring her for the Bangladesh series, made her express her feelings.
She said, “If I say I’m not frustrated and angry, then I’m not a human being. It’s difficult when you don’t get the results for the work that you have put in.”

Pandey’s eyes welled up with tears as she talked, indicating her commitment to give her all and work hard to stay fit.
“I’m sure there’s some reason behind it which I do not know. What’s in my hands is hard work, and I’m a stout believer in hard work. So it’s just about working hard until I am mentally and physically fit,” she included.
The 34-year-old pacer voiced her unhappiness but added that she has no control over the matter and that someone else has entirely seized charge of the decision.
Renuka Singh Thakur and Richa Ghosh, both regulars for India, were left out of the six-match series against Bangladesh. The team omitted their injuries or rest.
