Which emerging batsman will replace Kohli & Rohit in the future?

Young cricketers like Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Ayush Mhatre are leading the Indian cricket team through a golden era, setting new records.

Who is the best youngster in cricket in India?

The title of “best youngster in Indian cricket” is highly competitive, but Vaibhav Suryavanshi (14 years old) currently stands out as the most exceptional young talent in 2025. The Rajasthan Royals’ batting prodigy has broken multiple records, including becoming the youngest IPL centurion (35-ball 100) and the first player born after the IPL’s inception (2008) to debut in the league.

From the Indian Premier League to domestic cricket, these young Indian cricketers are creating a significant impact. Jaiswal, already an ICC World Test Championship hero, leads the list. At the same time, 17-year-old Mhatre, Asia Cup contributor and Vijay Hazare Trophy record-breaker shows Rohit Sharma-like flair.

Suryavanshi, the youngest cricketer to smash a Ranji Trophy century at 12, mirrors Don Bradman’s early dominance.

Left-handed dynamos like Sai Sudharsan and Tilak Varma add firepower. Emerging young cricketers like Priyansh Arya and Abishek Porel are showing their skills in the Indian Premier League 2025.

How many batsman in cricket team?

A standard cricket team consists of 11 players, with typically 5 to 7 specialist batsmen depending on the team’s strategy. The lineup usually includes:
Top-order batsmen (3–4): Openers and key scorers.
Middle-order batsmen (2–3): Controllers and finishers.
All-rounders (1–2): Players who bat and bowl.
Tailender (2-3): Players who can bat occasionally
In limited-overs formats (like ODIs and T20s), teams often prioritize more batsmen for aggressive scoring, while Test matches may include extra bowlers.

They have explosive strike rates and show resilience in Test matches. These young players represent the future of cricket.

Watch out for these young cricketers; they are beginning their international cricket debuts. The next generation is here, and they’re unstoppable.

12. Ayush Mhatre

We first saw this emerging batsman contribute 175 runs to the U-19 Asia Cup. The 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre made a meteoric rise after breaking Jaiswal’s record to make an incredible 181 runs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Since we’ve been following this new young cricketer, we’re saying that he’s special.

When fate handed him an IPL chance with Chennai Super Kings in Gaikwad’s absence, one of the youngest cricketers, Mhatre, grabbed his chance and beautifully capitalized. In the Indian Premier League 2025, the strike rate of 188.98 doesn’t lie about his batting aggression.

His compact technique against pace and spin reminds us of a young Rohit Sharma with those effortless flicks. A memorable 94 off 48 against RCB in IPL 2025, during a difficult time, was a clutch inning.

Let’s talk about his weakness.

At the MA Chidambaram Stadium, where his weakness was seen, Pat Cummins’ 145+ km/h deliveries exposed his footwork. After a phenomenal start, he was poorly dismissed. Also, his occasional loose drives outside off stump against the fast bowlers need improvement.

Give two more seasons to this Dilip Vensarkar Cricket Academy product, maybe get an India A call-up, and we might have our next superstar for the Indian team.

11. Vaibhav Suryavanshi

(Credit: Getty Images)

Meet one of the best youngsters in cricket, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who caught the limelight after smashing 400 runs in five innings at just 12 in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy.

One more time, we were surprised when, as the youngest cricketer, he broke Yuvraj Singh’s record, becoming the youngest Ranji Trophy debutant last January. Additionally, he had a great 2024 Asia Cup. He also scored a U-19 test century against Australia in just 58 balls.

This was a show of pure skill that impressed every selector. The Rajasthan Royals saw it too, gambling ₹1.1 crore on this teenager, and he paid off successfully. On his IPL debut, Vaibhav put up a remarkable IPL century against the Gujarat Titans.

We still get surprised remembering how he flicked Rashid Khan over mid-wicket with a swift 69-meter six. Even Shaun Pollock called it, “For me, this is the greatest individual performance of the IPL ever. It’s going to be. I mean, as a 14-year-old to go and stand out there and smash it around and get a hundred of 35 balls” during CricBuzz‘s show.

We don’t see 14-year-olds churn out runs against world-class spinners like that. But the truth is, Vaibhav is now in the development stage, so he also has some weaknesses. It’s visible when Prasidh Krishna cleans him up with yorkers.

He needs to improve his backfoot play and other skills. If he fixes these weaknesses, we’ll see him in blue before his 18th birthday. Until then, enjoy the show. Players like this come once in a generation.

10. Ankrish Raghuvanshi

The emerging batsman brought up the storm in the Indian Premier League 2024. He began his journey at the 2022 U-19 World Cup and the 2023 U-19 Asia Cup. From that, there has never been any doubt about his talent. With his noteworthy contribution, ten years later, the Kolkata Knight Riders finally secured the third IPL trophy.

After grinding in domestic cricket in 2023, he shone in IPL 2024. He scored over 160 runs with a strike rate above 155 for KKR.

Although KKR struggled to reach the playoffs in IPL 2025, Ankrish consistently delivered impressive performances throughout the season. With a knock of 300 runs at a strike rate of 139.53, he proved he has the qualities of a seasoned batsman. Additionally, in red-ball cricket, he scored 265 runs in 11 innings, achieving a strike rate of over 26.

Ankrish scored a calm 50 runs off 32 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He helped KKR recover from a top-order collapse. We know he can easily rotate strike and accelerate against spin, which makes him one of the best young cricketers in India.

The technique and adaptability of Ankrish are priceless. With efficient body movements and graceful footwork, he stands tall in the top to middle order. However, he struggles against high-pace short balls, as seen in IPL 2025 Match 12, where a 132 kph bouncer from Hardik Pandya clogged him, resulting in a top edge.

So, he has a lot to learn. Consistent performances in upcoming seasons could create an opportunity for the senior Indian cricket team.

9. Abishek Porel

Abhishek Porel is one of the most promising young cricketers in India. After a superb season in IPL 2024, coach Ponting believes in him for IPL 2025 as well. Watching this Bengal lad at the crease is a glimpse of Ganguly. His swift and accurate judgment of length, combined with his steady hands, makes him stand out. Batting in any top-to-middle order shows his adaptability.

While Delhi Capitals’ stars stumbled in IPL 2025, Porel’s 301 runs with a strike rate of 146.83 screamed consistency, especially when Delhi needed it most.

Especially his 51 against Lucknow Super Giants on match day 40 was valuable. Not only batting but also wicket-keeping in match day 63 against the Mumbai Indians, Porel made a great catch of Rohit Sharma and silenced the Wankhede crowd. Now consider his red-ball game, a 17.00 average in Ranji 2024-25; along with the IPL, it proves he is not just a T20 slogger.

Against the spinners, he is still vulnerable. So, he needs to work on it.

We’re a few years away from seeing Porel’s debut for the Indian cricket team.

8. Tilak Varma

If you are looking for a young Indian left-handed batsman with solid techniques, that’s him. You can place him in any position in the batting lineup. This Indian player from India A, Tilak, is set to debut for India in T20Is and ODIs and has already stamped his feet.

His first-class, T20I, and IPL careers have started strongly, while his ODI performance currently shows the most potential for improvement. With 343 runs in IPL 2025, he showed his presence at the crease. Now, he is more mature, no longer the raw talent, but Mumbai’s crisis man.

As one of the best young cricketers, his crucial knock in Qualifier 2 against the Punjab Kings was memorable. When Rohit Sharma fell early, the pressure was immense, but Tilak walked in with a calm that settled the nerves.

Some critics said he is struggling with short balls and uses lots of dot balls in the middle overs. At his young age, every player has flaws. Tilak has much to improve to secure a spot on the senior Indian cricket team consistently.

7. Dhruv Jurel

Another wicket-keeper batter, Dhruv Jurel, is known for his ice-cool finishes. Last year, Jurel marked his Test matches and T20I debuts for India. But his 28* off 10 under pressure against the Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2024 is still memorable.

Alongside IPL, the 24-year-old wicketkeeper-batter averages 48.73 in first-class cricket, striking at 57.74, proving his caliber in domestic cricket.

Back to his recent performances. We all know the Rajasthan Royals spent a tough season in IPL 2025, but Jurel made 333 runs at 156.33 SR, lifting the Rajasthan Royals thrice in the run chase. His best IPL performance to date came with a score of 70 against the Punjab Kings. In this game, Jurel dominates against Omarzai’s short balls.

We believe you recall his impressive 90 against England in the Ranchi Test match on a challenging pitch, where he outscored senior players, demonstrating his temperament.

We have more to tell about one of the best young Indian cricketers. Jurel isn’t only a batsman; he’s the future gloveman of Indian test cricket alongside Pant. He is not superhuman, so he also has weaknesses. Against Spin got into trouble a lot, so he needs to work on this.

One of the best young Indian cricketers, Jurel isn’t only a batsman; he’s the future gloveman of Indian test cricket alongside Pant. We are waiting for his debut in the ODIs as well for the Indian team.

6. Priyansh Arya

(Credit: Getty Images)

From a local tournament in Delhi to the IPL, the journey of this young Indian left-handed batsman resembles a fairy tale. Priyansh Arya grabs our attention instantly in IPL 2025 with his aggressive batting. In his debut season, he impressed us with 475 runs at a 179.24 strike rate, hitting two fifties and a hundred.

He had made 62 off 35 against Mumbai Indians in match day 69 at run chase under pressure, which showed his character. Emerging cricketers rarely show such calm.

Like most Indian batters, he also faced trouble with short balls and outside-the-off-stump deliveries. As a new young cricketer, he has time to improve these flaws.

Why sixth? Others have more potential. But watch him closely. In his debut season, his contribution to his team is undeniable. His explosive innings provide valuable impact for his team. He needs to continue this form; we believe that within 36 months, selectors will consider him for the Indian team.

Who Is the Emerging Cricketer of the Year 2025?

Sai Sudharsan, the talented Indian left-handed batter, has been named the Emerging Cricketer of the Year 2025. Known for his elegant strokeplay and consistency, Sudharsan impressed with stellar performances in domestic cricket and the IPL 2025, scoring 759 runs at an average of 54.21 in IPL 2025. His rapid rise highlights his potential as a future star in international cricket.

5. Abishek Sharma

A breakout star showed his class against Rashid Khan in IPL 2025 with a 100+ meters six. But this emerging batsman has already made his reputation in IPL 2024. He confidently scored 484 runs, controlling a remarkable strike rate of over 204. Because of this phenomenal performance last year, he debuted in the T20I.

This year, the promising Indian player started where they left off last year. With 439 runs, an average of 33.77, and SR 193.39, he became SRH’s power opener with his 28 sixes leveled with Yashasvi Jaiswal. This batting all-rounder also showed his class in domestic cricket.

We witnessed some greatness from him also against the Punjab Kings with a remarkable 141, when chasing 246. Another was the 74 off 41 against the Gujarat Titans. His 59 in a tricky chase against LSG proved his game sense and maturity.

Cricket Expert Harbhajan Singh suggests that this young lad focus also on his bowling. That will be beneficial for him.

Having struggled against the fast bowlers is a serious concern, and inconsistency has limited his playing numbers for India.

Still, India handed him a T20I debut in July 2024. Why?

He has the potential to be one of the best young cricketers in India. That 100 off 47 against Zimbabwe showed he is a “future star.”

India needs young cricketers like this for ODIs and Tests.

4. Riyan Parag

He has been touted as the best youngster in cricket since the 2019 IPL, with 50 runs in 49 balls at 17. Now, Riyan Parag is delivering consistently. Last year marked his entry into India’s T20I and ODI teams.

The 23-year-old right-hander silenced critics in IPL 2025, smashing 393 runs at a 166+ strike rate. His clutch 95 against the Kolkata Knight Riders was pure class with temperament.

During last year’s Ranji Trophy season, he performed exceptionally well, scoring 378 runs. This year, he impressively sustained his strike rate, amassing 51 runs off just 67 balls in a thrilling match against Saurashtra.

Still, he’s raw at the international level. His inconsistent performance and struggles with hard length need more work.

But why is he our No. 4? Because of his techniques and adaptability. He’s a solid middle-to-top-order batsman and shows leadership potential. Consistent hard work should earn him regular playing time with the senior team.

3. Prabhsimran Singh

He has yet to make his professional debut for India but has caught the eye in domestic cricket and the IPL. After three impressive IPL seasons with Punjab Kings, he is now looking for a senior international cricket debut.

When Punjab needed aggression in the powerplay, this emerging talent delivered. With 103 against Delhi Capitals, he again proved his class.

Another successful season ended with 549 runs for this wicket-keeper batter at a 160.53 strike rate, four fifties, and two match-winning knocks. This record made Prabsimran a dependable top-order batter in PBKS’s history.

From the first ball, he attacked fearlessly, slicing precise cuts through point, making him a perfect aggressive opener. Especially, his bold reverse scoops over the third man, while backfoot punches and helicopter flicks left the pacers scrambling.

Beyond T20s, with 498 runs at a 128.68 strike rate in the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy, his performance is undeniable.

He has a weakness against good leg spinners. It includes Noor Ahmed, Krunal Pandya, and Ravindra Jadeja, whom he faced and was out twice.

We’re watching a future star polish his game. When he cracks the spin code, that blue jersey of the Indian team awaits. Right now, watch and appreciate his game; each appearance is worth the price of a ticket.

Which young indian cricketer died recently

Recently, 27-year-old Indian cricketer Harjeet Singh tragically died on the pitch after suffering a heart attack during a local match in Firozpur, Punjab. He collapsed moments after hitting a six, just one run short of his half-century. Despite immediate CPR efforts, he was declared dead at the scene. Another young cricketer, Dirdh Patel (23), died in the Air India plane crash on June 12, 2025

The hero of the Gujarat Titans has performed well for the last three years. This young, Indian left-handed batsman is no longer just talented. He’s the future of Indian cricket.

In IPL 2025, he proved his critics wrong by scoring 759 runs with an average of 54.1. He won the Orange Cap with key performances under pressure. His amazing 108 runs off 61 balls against Delhi Capitals changed the game and stole the spotlight.

Watching his technique is pure class. He has tight footwork, crisp drives, and a calm temperament.
As an emerging batsman of IPL 2025, he made a ton and six fifties. Even though the Gujarat Titans lost to the Mumbai Indians in the eliminator, Sai played very well and made 80 off 49.

Critics had once questioned his strike rate. He answered with a 156+ SR this season. Yet, he struggles against sharp leg spin bowlers like Kuldeep Yadav. But he’s improving.

He started by playing in Tamil Nadu. Then, he scored centuries in the Ranji Trophy. After that, he did well in the IPL and India A. His success helped him join the senior squad.

Now, he has received a call-up from India for the England Tests and played in the first test.
Why’s he our No. 2 emerging cricketer, not No. 1?

He has many skills but lacks experience in international cricket. Still, he is consistent and has superb techniques. He can adapt well. Watch this player; one day, they will excel in every format.

1. Yashasvi Jaiswal

(Credit: Facebook)

We know we included a well-known Indian player. He is making his debut in all three formats for India. He was the emerging batsman of IPL 2023, Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has a bright future in Indian cricket.

This young, left-handed batsman consistently delivers for his franchise and nation. At 22, he has already broken records. He is the youngest Indian to score 1000 runs in a year. He also has the fastest fifty in IPL and more.

We still remember his Test match debut of 171 against the West Indies in 2023. That was just the start. In 2024, he smashed England with 712 runs in 5 Test matches, averaging 89. He got the Player of the Series award with two double tons and three fifties and was the second-highest run-scorer with 1798 runs for the ICC World Test Championship. Even James Anderson couldn’t stop him.

But tests aren’t his only zone. In IPL 2025, he stood out with 559 runs, combining aggression with control. His strike rate was a fiery 159.71. Yet, he adapts to grinding in Tests and exploding in T20s and ODIs. That’s his versatility.

To talk about his flaws, most of the time, left-handed fast bowlers dominate over him because of his wrong shot selection against the short ball. Now, he tried to work on his head movement and footwork. Internationally, he’s already considered a top Indian opening batsman who has made 2500+ runs for India across three formats.

Why is he our No. 1 future Indian cricketer?

Because of his consistency, temperament, and match-winning flair. In a crisis moment, he stood tall. You’ll see his name for years.
