Why the 2010 T20 World Cup happened so soon (less than a year after 2009):

- In 2016, the ICC decided to hold the event every four years instead of two.
- Then, the planned 2020 tournament was postponed to 2021 due to COVID-19, making the gap even longer.
Why were there back-to-back tournaments in 2021 and 2022?
- India hosted the postponed 2020 event in 2021.
- Australia had already been scheduled to host the next event, which they did in 2022.
- This put the tournament back on its planned even-year schedule (2022, 2024, etc.).
