India’s Srikanth, Prannoy Advance to Japan Open Pre-Quarterfinals
Kidambi Srikanth and HS Prannoy of India both advanced to the pre-quarterfinals of the men’s singles category at the BWF Japan Open on Tuesday.
Srikanth defeated Chou Tien Chen of Taiwan 21-13, 21-13, while Prannoy beat Li Shifeng of China 21-17, 21-13. The two Indians will now face each other in the next round.
In the women’s singles, Aakarshi Kashyap lost to Akane Yamaguchi of Japan 17-21, 17-21.
Indian Women’s Doubles Pair Advances to Pre-Quarterfinals
The Indian combination of Treesa Jolly and Pullela Gayatri Gopichand also advanced to the pre-quarters in the women’s doubles. They defeated the Japanese pair of Sayaka Hobara and Suizu 11-21, 21-15, 21-14.
Indian Men’s Doubles Pair Loses to Taiwanese Pair
Rohan Kapoor and Nelakurihi Sikki Reddy of India lost to Ye Hong-wei and Lee Chia-hsin of Taiwan in the men’s doubles. The Taiwanese won 21-18, 9-21, and 18-21.
Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty Eye More Success
The doubles team of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will be looking to build on their success at the Korea Open. They stunned the world’s top couple, Fajar Alfian and Muhamad Rian Ardianto, on Sunday to win the title.

India had a mixed day at the BWF Japan Open on Tuesday. While Srikanth and Prannoy advanced to the pre-quarters, Kashyap lost in the first round. The Indian women’s doubles pair also advanced, while the men’s doubles pair lost. Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will be looking to continue their good form in the next round.
