Tommy DeVito, the standout of the 2023 NFL season, emerged as the star quarterback for the New York Giants at just 25 years old. Despite being undrafted, he seized the starting position when injuries sidelined both Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor.

Tommy, nicknamed “Tommy Cutlets” and “The Passing Paisano,” gained attention for his exceptional on-field skills and pride in his Italian-American heritage. His close-knit family further adds to his captivating story.

Undrafted free agent Tommy DeVito began the year with the New York Giants and is now their starting quarterback. DeVito’s annual salary for playing with the team is $750,000.

Spotrac reports that he is currently under a one-year contract worth $750,000, and the Giants will incur a cap hit of $416,667 for the year. The entire contract is guaranteed.

College Football Career of Tommy De Vito

Highly sought after by top universities, Tommy DeVito, a native of Livingston, New Jersey, received offers from Syracuse, Yale, Rutgers, Maryland, Boston College, Penn, and Temple. He decided to attend Syracuse University.

DeVito joined Syracuse for the 2018 college football season after redshirting his true freshman year. In 2018, he served as the backup to Eric Dungey, playing in seven games. During this time, he threw for 525 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions.

DeVito had an impressive 2019 college football season, playing in 12 games and achieving a 4–7 record. He recorded 2,360 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, and five interceptions.

However, DeVito’s performance declined in the following two years, featuring only seven times. This decline was initially due to a season-ending leg injury and later because of Garrett Shrader’s transfer.

Losing his spot prompted DeVito to enter the transfer portal, ultimately leading him to move to the University of Illinois. DeVito quickly seized the starting quarterback role and held it throughout the entire 2022 collegiate season.

He led the Illinois Fighting Illini to an 8-5 record, showcasing impressive stats with 2,650 yards, 15 touchdowns, and just four interceptions. Wrapping up the season, DeVito announced his entry into the 2023 NFL draft.

Tommy DeVito’s Performance in 2023?

Undrafted in 2023, Tommy DeVito quickly signed with the New York Giants as a free agent.

Starting as the third-string quarterback, he stepped in for Tyrod Taylor in Week 8 after Taylor suffered an injury against the New York Jets.

Week 9 saw DeVito again, this time replacing an injured Daniel Jones in a game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Week 10 marked his promotion to the starting quarterback position.

Since taking over, DeVito boasts 697 passing yards, seven TDs, and three interceptions in five games. The Giants hold a 2-1 record in the games he started.

How much money does Tommy DeVito earn?

Tommy DeVito signed a 3-year NFL contract worth $2.705 million, equivalent to $44,000 per game. In contrast, Bryce Young, the 2023 number 1 draft pick and Carolina Panthers quarterback, secured a 4-year contract totaling nearly $38 million.

To manage his money wisely, Tommy lives with his parents, Tom and Alexandra, near the Giants facility. He shared with ESPN that he benefits from the convenience of home living. His mom takes care of chores like laundry and dinner, even making his bed.

Tommy emphasized the practicality of his situation, stating that he was unsure if he could find a place closer to the Giants facility, as it only takes him 12 minutes to get there.

The Tommy DeVito legend continues this week as he and the Giants face the Green Bay Packers in Monday Night Football for week 14.
