LeBron and Davis Sit Out Lakers Preseason Opener
LeBron James and Anthony Davis, who didn’t appear in the Los Angeles Lakers preseason opener Friday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves, It was awful news.
Both players will miss a second game, L.A.’s second game Sunday in Acrisure Arena against the Phoenix Suns, but they are expected to play as they were held out for rest. However, Max Christie and Jaxson Hayes began in their places against Minnesota.
James and Davis come off busy summers with Team USA, capped by winning gold at the Paris Olympics. Lakers rookie Bronny James did take part in his first appearance Friday, though coach JJ Redick said he would experiment with different lineups throughout the preseason.

Bronny remarked, “Of course, there are nerves,” during Friday morning’s shootaround. Nevertheless, I can’t wait to get out there and absorb as much information as possible from the performers in front of me. And I will give it my all if I can demonstrate my abilities.”
If he gets brought into the game, Bronny said he’s looking forward to hearing from his dad from the bench — the same way LeBron would sit courtside when Bronny played in high school, as an AAU ballplayer, and in college so they could talk during the game.
“Pretty much the same thing, but now we’re teammates,” Bronny told me. “So it will be a more in-depth discussion about the game and such. So, yes, I’m ready.“
