Victorian Homecoming: Dan Houston and Soldo Eye Return to Familiar Territory
Port Adelaide gun Dan Houston seeks to return to Victoria. Ivan Soldo asked for a trade after just one year at the club.
Houston informed the Power at his exit meeting on Tuesday of his desire to return home to Victoria. But he did not mention a specific club, with three years remaining on his contract. But he is happy to stay at Alberton if a trade does not happen.
“I informed the club that my preference was to play in Victoria next year,” he stated in Alberton on Tuesday.
“Over the previous two weeks, my emotions have fluctuated. If the transaction cannot be completed, I am content to remain at Port, since I enjoy the club.”
It occurs despite Houston’s constant suppression of persistent trade rumors in recent days.
He has most recently met with Carlton, Collingwood, St Kilda, and Western Bulldogs, the Power looking for two first-round picks in return.
Although he has not specified a preferred club, Soldo, contracted until 2026, is allegedly interested in moving back to Victoria and partnering with Rowan Marshall at St Kilda.
A 204cm giant, “didn’t settle into living in Adelaide,” as per AFL Media reports Callum Twomey, following a trade from Richmond last upcoming window.
He played just eight senior games this year and eventually was pushed out of the senior side by Jordon Sweet.
Jack Lukosius chose Port over the Crows in an attempt to get traded back to South Australia, it was announced earlier on Tuesday.
