Liverpool is ahead to crack the deal of Dominik Szoboszlai.
Liverpool is on the verge of making its second deal of the summer transfer season. They have struck an agreement with RB Leipzig to sign Hungarian playmaker Dominik Szoboszlai.
Liverpool and RB Leipzig have agreed to a fee of £60 million for Hungary’s Dominik Szoboszlai. Before this, Newcastle United had shown interest in the 22-year-old, but they have now opened the door for Liverpool.
Already gunners made a strong move for Rice, so Reds need more stability in the midfield. Negotiations heated on Friday, just hours before the player’s £60 million release clause with the Bundesliga club expired.
As the German cup champions agreed to a season-long loan agreement for Liverpool’s Fabio Carvalho, Liverpool started talks with RBL officials about a move for Szoboszlai.
Liverpool is confident of signing Dominik Szoboszlai.
Leipzig was not in a hurry to offload the 22-year-old. They had previously sold Christopher Nkunku to Chelsea, and Manchester City sought Josko Gvardiol for a big-money move this month. Szoboszlai has interested to move to Anfield and work with Jurgen Klopp.
Liverpool and Leipzig are already in talks, with Fabio Carvalho’s season-long loan transfer to the Bundesliga club certain to be finalized today (Friday), and the Szoboszlai deal was unavoidable.
Szoboszlai’s contract has a €60 million release clause, with contradictory rumors regarding when it would expire, but the transfer will be expensive.
The German side swiftly rejected the deal, though. Liverpool eventually made a concession and agreed to pay it all at once.
Why Dominik Szoboszlai is vital for Liverpool
Dominik Szoboszlai is a prime target for Liverpool because he would offer creativity and a goal threat to their midfield. The 22-year-old Hungarian international has a track record of producing at the top level, with 10 goals and 13 assists in 46 games for RB Leipzig last season.
He’s also a good dribbler and passer who would fit in nicely with Liverpool’s aggressive style of play.
Szoboszlai would also give much-needed competition for midfield positions at Liverpool. The Reds now have a variety of excellent midfielders, but in recent years they have failed to produce a reliable striker from midfield.
Szoboszlai’s presence at Liverpool would provide them with another option in the final third, and he may help them score more goals.
Liverpool’s interest in Dominik Szoboszlai intensifies.
Szoboszlai joins Jurgen Klopp’s squad overhaul at Liverpool, becoming the club’s second signing of the summer window. Liverpool signed Alexis MacAllister for around £45 million earlier this month, exceeding the £100 million threshold in summer expenditure.
Furthermore, various players have been linked with prospective moves to Anfield. The club is apparently in talks with Khephren Thuram’s current club, Nice, over a transfer for the midfielder.
After acquiring Szoboszlai, it’s uncertain whether Liverpool will keep looking for a deal.
According to recent sources, Goncalo Inacio of Sporting Lisbon is reportedly being linked with a move and may be on the club’s agenda before the transfer season shuts.
