Man United Target Former Chelsea Forward Timo Werner in January Loan Move
Sky Sport reports that United have already approached RB Leipzig about a potential deal for the forward Timo Werner in the winter. The two teams have not engaged in any official offers or negotiations so far. Although Real Madrid has been linked with him, they are not actively pushing to sign him at the moment.
Werner, 27, has considered a loan move to several interested clubs in January, including Real Madrid. But Sky Sports’s Journalist Plettenberg believes the German will likely prefer to complete the season at RB Leipzig before deciding on a permanent move.
Reports suggest that Werner is unhappy with the current situation in Saxony, even though he only recently returned to Leipzig from Chelsea in 2022. Meanwhile, Man United aims to bolster their attacking firepower and has a keen interest in the player.
Is Werner the Next Stop-Gap Forward for MANU?
United have reportedly inquired about Werner’s availability, but they have not made an offer, and there have been no negotiations at this stage. Reds boss Erik Ten Hag will now monitor Werner’s situation over the next couple of weeks before the transfer window opens.
If Werner were to move to Old Trafford in January, he would join the likes of Odion Ighalo and Wout Weghorst on a growing list of stop-gap striking options that the once-dominant Premier League side have turned to in recent history.
Werner has only scored twice this campaign, but he managed to register 16 goals last season back in the Bundesliga.
