New York Yankees Secure 8-6 Victory in ALCS Game 4

Stephen Vogt stated the Cleveland Guardians were not looking at any pitch to intentionally walk Giancarlo Stanton before giving the New York Yankees a three-run lead in ALCS Game 4. Spectators didn’t get a break in the seventh game of the ALCS, with Game 4 evenly matched and dramatic until the last moments.

The Cleveland Guardians made various efforts to win the match and level the series but failed in the end, and the New York Yankees were the 8-6 winners in the match.

The decisive moment, as far as the outcome of the game was concerned, was Giancarlo Stanton’s three-run homer off Cade Smith in the sixth. This blast put the Yankees up 6-2, and for the moment when this play happened, but let’s go to the top of the third.

Throughout the game, Cleveland was fortunate to avoid facing Stanton while Soto and Judge were on base. Considering his success in the month of October, intentionally passing the New York slugger has probably been a better option.

But Guardians manager Stephen Vogt said after the game that he never thought of giving Stanton a ball and four wide ones to the first base.

Vogt Defends Cade After Stanton Homerun

No, I didn’t,” Vogt said.

“On the mound, we have Cade. “I trust Cade to make pitches there because he’s the best strike-out reliever we have.” All year long, he has been doing it. It appeared that Stanton got to the fastball after [Cade] failed to raise it completely.”No, I didn’t,” Vogt said.

A Missed Opportunity: Cleveland’s Decision to Pitch to Stanton

It is Cade having lights out in the regular season and playoffs, but in a short period of time, New York’s heart of the lineup has seen him now three times.

That’s usually when the edge begins to shift in the hitter’s favor. New York had Anthony Rizzo on deck too, one who isn’t nearly the same power threat Stanton is. That wouldn’t have been such a great matchup for Cleveland.

But, looking back from that game, the Guardians probably wish they would’ve walked Stanton. But that wasn’t the only at-bat that Cleveland wished they could have changed after nine innings had been played. The Guardians, however, now sit on the brink of elimination in Game 5 on Saturday night.
