
LeBron and Bronny James Make NBA History
c by becoming the first father-and-son pair to play together in a regular season fixture on Tuesday night when the Los Angeles Lakers began their new season against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The pair, who only shared floor time before the start of the month in a friendly match, entered the game midway through the second quarter when the Lakers were 16 points clear, 51-35.
The home fans jumped to their feet and perched on the edge of their seats as the James duo were introduced to the court by the assistant coach, JJ Redick after the Lakers built a big lead of twelve points.
In a perfect dramatic Hollywood pitch, the James’ teamed up for a double act to be watched by, Ken Griffey senior and Junior of the Seattle Mariners making baseball history by being father and son in 1990-1991.
“We created history, and now we get to witness it,” Griffey Jr. remarked. Bronny joined his father to snap photos with LeBron and Bronny James the night before Tuesday’s game.
LeBron James Eager to Share Court with Son Bronny
Lakers officials had been leery of when and where the first regular season fixture together of LeBron James and Bronny would occur before Tuesday’s season opener.
But NBA superstar LeBron James, who turns 40 in December, confessed to pregame remarks that he couldn’t wait to share a court with his son and realize a long-held dream.
“I just want to run out the tunnel with him, see him warm up, and know that he’ll be in uniform,” James told reporters during Tuesday’s morning shoot-around.
“I’ve run out on opening night 22 times now, so I’m not sure how many more times I’ll get the chance or how long I have left to run out. I will not neglect it.“
Lakers solo preparations for the start of the new season have been dominated by anticipation about the James double act since Bronny James joined the franchise with the 55th pick in the NBA draft in June.
And 20-year-old Bronny James is set to spend much of a rookie season away from the Lakers senior squad with most of his time on the developmental G-League.
