A Test of Wills in the First Set
The first set was a real nail-biter. Fritz, known for his powerful serve and aggressive style, had chances to close out the set early, even holding two set points. But Yunchaokete Bu wouldn’t back down, forcing a tense tie-break. Fritz finally clinched the set, converting his fifth set point.
Fritz Finds His Groove
With the first set under his belt, Fritz found his rhythm. He broke Yunchaokete Bu’s serve right at the start of the second set and then held his own serve easily. He secured another break midway through the set, showcasing a delicate forehand drop shot that drew cheers from the home crowd. Fritz was dominant on his serve in the second set, losing only one point. “I’m super happy to get it done,” Fritz said. “He was playing really well, super tough first set.”

Fritz’s Delray Beach Dominance
Fritz clearly loves playing in Delray Beach. His tournament record is fantastic, and he’s aiming to be the first player born in or after 1991 to win the same ATP Tour event three times consecutively. “I don’t think it’s that much of a coincidence that the tournament I’ve won two times in a row is also the tournament where I can stay at my own place, drive up to,” Fritz explained. “It’s great to be here. A lot of great memories and a lot of confidence playing on this court.”
Nakashima Rallies for Victory
In other action, Brandon Nakashima showed impressive resilience, coming from behind to beat Reilly Opelka 3-6, 7-5, 6-2.
