IPL 2024 held in India Confirmed Jay Shah For Throughout Season
Cricket fans in India can rejoice! The BCCI confirmed that IPL 2024 will be held in India, squashing speculation about relocation for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.
There were whispers regarding the fate of the IPL’s second phase, with some reports suggesting the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as a potential alternate host nation.
Official election schedule announced: April 19th – June 1st (vote counting June 4th). Despite this, BCCI confirms IPL to be held entirely in India.
“The entire IPL will be held in India,” declared BCCI secretary Jay Shah, as quoted by PTI news agency. “We will be finalizing the remaining schedule very soon and announce it accordingly.”
This news comes after the BCCI previously announced the schedule for only the first two weeks of IPL 2024 in February.
The season kicks off on March 22nd with the defending champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), hosting Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the iconic Chepauk stadium.
Fans can already mark their calendars for matches scheduled up to April 7th.
Previous Election History and IPL Scheduling:
This isn’t the first time the IPL has navigated the logistical hurdles of Indian elections. In 2009, IPL forcefully shifted to South Africa.
The 2014 IPL split its season. The UAE hosted the first part, then the tournament returned to India to finish. However, the 2019 IPL successfully managed to operate entirely within India despite the elections.
A sigh of relief for Cricket Fans and the Economy:
BCCI keeps IPL in India. Cricket fans rejoice! IPL matches and electric atmosphere await.
Additionally, it provides a significant boost to the Indian economy, with the IPL generating substantial revenue through tourism, sponsorships, and merchandise sales.
Anticipation Builds for the Remaining Schedule Announcement:
With the election dates confirmed and the BCCI’s commitment to hosting the IPL within India, fans eagerly await the announcement of the remaining fixtures. This will allow them to plan their viewing schedules and prepare for the exciting clashes to come.
